Product and Service Terms & Conditions | NYC GREEN LINE MOVERS

By submitting your NYC GREEN LINE MOVERS service deposit, you officially consent to be bound by the Product and Service Terms & Conditions detailed below. It is the client's responsibility to stay informed regarding these policies. We maintain the right to adjust, update, or substitute any part of these Terms at our discretion. The date your deposit is paid acts as the effective agreement date for the terms currently in force.

Last Updated: Friday, January 29, 2026.

1. Cost of Service & Payment Terms

Deposit Payment

  • To guarantee your relocation date, your binding flat-rate estimate, and specific service options, a $50 deposit is required at the time of booking.
  • For relocations estimated at $2,000 or higher, a mandatory deposit of 10% of the total projected fee is required.
  • You have a 24-hour window from the time of confirmation to submit the deposit. Failure to comply may result in adjustments to the quoted price based on availability and peak demand.
  • Availability is managed on a first-come, first-served basis; your reservation is not finalized until the deposit is confirmed.

Refunds & Postponements

  • Deposits are fully refundable if a written request is sent via email at least 1 business day before the move. Please allow 5 business days for refund processing.
  • For weekend relocations, cancellations must be finalized by Thursday at the close of business to qualify for a refund.
  • In the event of a postponement: If the client decides not to rebook within 30 days, the deposit will be returned. After 30 days, a new deposit will be required for any future services.

Outstanding Balance

  • The remaining balance must be paid 1 business day prior to your scheduled move date. Services cannot begin until full payment has been secured.
  • Accepted Payment Methods: All major credit/debit cards (Visa, MasterCard, AMEX, Discover), cash, or certified bank checks.
  • If you choose to pay by cash or check on the day of the move, you must provide written notice during booking and present the full amount to the foreman before loading begins.
  • Unpaid balances may be transferred to third-party collection agencies, which may affect your credit rating.

2. Cancellations and Rescheduling

Notice: A minimum of 24 hours (1 business day) notice is mandatory to cancel or reschedule without penalties and to remain eligible for a deposit refund.

Peak Periods: For moves scheduled between the 25th and the 2nd of any month, a 3-business-day notice is required for any changes. Failure to provide this notice will result in a penalty equal to 100% of the total service cost.

3. Additional Charges

  • Inventory Changes: If the actual items on moving day exceed the initial inventory list, a revised estimate will be provided and must be settled immediately.
  • Long Carry: If parking is not available within 150 feet of the building entrance, an excessive carrying fee (up to $300) may be applied based on volume and distance.
  • Parking Tickets: NYC GREEN LINE MOVERS takes full responsibility for any parking citations received by our vehicles during your relocation.
  • Stair Fees: A "flight of stairs" is defined as 6 or more steps. Undisclosed staircases at either the origin or destination will lead to additional handling fees.
  • Waiting Time: Delays caused by the client or building management may result in extra hourly waiting fees.

4. Storage Services Billing

  • Payment Method: Monthly storage costs and move-in/out services must be settled via credit or debit card. Cash and checks are not accepted for storage fees.
  • Automatic Billing: Payment cards are securely stored and automatically charged each month on the anniversary of your original move-in date.
  • Prorating: Monthly storage rates are not prorated. Moving out even one day after a new billing cycle starts will result in a charge for the full month.
  • Access: We provide secure warehouse storage; we do not provide individual units or allow public visits to our facilities.
  • Non-Payment: If payments are overdue for 3 months, we reserve the right to auction or dispose of the items to recover losses.

5. Hourly Labor Billing

  • Minimums: 2-hour minimum for a team of 2 movers; 4-hour minimum for a team of 3 movers.
  • Timing: Billing begins when the crew arrives and begins coordinating with the client at the pickup site.
  • Overage: Extra time is billed in 30-minute increments at the established hourly rate.
  • Default Policy: Hourly billing applies only to local NYC moves and is subject to management approval; flat-rate quotes remain our standard default.

6. Customer Responsibilities & Prohibited Items

  • Presence: The client or a designated legal representative must be present for the entire duration of the relocation.
  • Preparation: All furniture (fridges, dressers, etc.) must be emptied before arrival unless professional packing services were explicitly purchased.
  • Electronics: Clients are responsible for unplugging all devices. We do not perform electrical disconnections or installations.
  • Valuables: Please keep cash, passports, jewelry, and medications in your personal possession. We are not responsible for these items if they are packed by mistake.
  • Prohibited Items: We strictly forbid the transportation of hazardous materials (aerosols, acids, fertilizer, motor oil), firearms, ammunition, illegal substances, or live animals.
  • Plants: We transport live houseplants for local distances under 250 miles if they are under 6.5 ft. No plants are permitted in long-term storage.

7. Insurance and Claims

  • Basic Coverage: Items are protected by a standard valuation of $0.60 per pound per article, as mandated by the NY Department of Transportation.
  • Third-Party Insurance: For high-value belongings, we suggest obtaining extra coverage through movinginsurance.com at least 48 hours before the move.
  • Filing a Claim: You have a 90-day window from the move date to submit a written claim for any damages.
  • Late Compensation: If we arrive after the scheduled pickup window, we offer a 5% refund for every hour of delay (capped at 15%). Claims regarding late fees must be submitted within 1 day of the move.

8. Safety and Professionalism

  • Training: Our crews participate in rigorous training covering packing, lifting, and customer service.
  • Conduct: We expect our staff to be treated with respect. NYC GREEN LINE MOVERS reserves the right to stop services if our crew is subjected to harassment.
  • Sanitation: We reserve the right to decline service for items or environments that do not meet basic sanitary requirements or present health hazards.
